  • Born: 10 OKT 1832, Varsseveld
  • Married 2 OKT 1890, Sheboygan County (USA-WI), to Regina A.E. Rickmeyer
  • Married 1854, Kenosha, Kenosha County (USA-IL), to Barbara Hoffman
  • Died: 25 DEC 1913, Glenbeulah,Twp, Sheboygan County (USA-WI)
  • Occupation: landbouwer, kruidenier

    "New Store of Ferrysburg!

A.J. Arentsen wishes to give notice to the public that he has opened an assortment of Groceries and Provisions, near the Ferrysburg Depot. He intends to keep a good stock of Goods always on hand and sell them at the Lowest Possible Rates for Cash.

His motto is "Small profits and quick returns" "The nimble sixpence is better than the slow shilling"

Those who wish to pay for their Goods will find this the place to buy, and those who do not wish to pay can go elsewhere.

Andrew J woonde in 1910 in Greenbush Twp

"Andrew Arentsen, head, Oct. 1832, age 67, married 9 yrs, born Holland, Imm. 1846, Na(turalized)
    Regina E., wife, Jan. 1859, age 41, married 9 yrs, 0 children,born Germany, Imm. 1860"

"Andrew J. Arentsen, head, M, W, age 78, married 19 yrs, 2nd marriage, born Holland
Regina, wife, F, W, age 51, married 19 yrs, 1st marriage, 1 child, born Germany
Esther, daughter, F, W, age 6, single, born WI
John, son, M, W, age 45, single, born WI, machinist".

Co.

    "John (Andrew) J. Arentsen [Arentson] [@1832 - ?]
Andrew Arentsen was a native of The Netherlands, where he was born about 1832. He and his family lived for awhile in Wisconsin, and then came to Ferrysburg in 1864. By late 1867 he owned a store in Ferrysburg near the railroad depot. His motto was "Small Profits and quick returns" and "The nimble sixpence is better than the slow shilling." He carried
groceries and other provisions. In the 1880 census Andrew was listed as a hotel keeper. His wife, Barbara, managed the Central House in Spring Lake.
Their daughter, Lena, married Charles Begin of Spring Lake. Barbara, who was born in Germany, lived from March 7, 1825 to October 7, 1918. She was buried at Spring Lake Cemetery. Their children were Emma, born about 1856 in Wisconsin, and John, born about 1861, also in Wisconsin."
